“Giving is not just about making a donation. It’s about making a difference.” This sentiment by Kathy Calvin, former CEO and president of the United Nations, speaks directly to why we all do what we do.
We just celebrated fifty years of Earth Day last week and presented the challenge of finding ways to continue creating positive change for the planet. This next week you have a chance to do just that.
On May 5, 2020, the #GivingTuesdayNow movement is providing people locally and around the world the opportunity to stand together in unity – to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected and heal. This movement encourages people to give back to their communities and causes in safe ways that allow for social connection and kindness even while practicing physical distancing.
While we can’t serve together physically right now in our mission, we do hope you will consider joining us in this global day of unity and giving. We thank those of you who have given generously over the years to the Virginia Aquarium and its mission, especially our volunteers, staff, and donors. We are humbled by those who have continued to give even during this unprecedented closure. With the loss in earned revenues, this generosity has been vital to maintaining the optimal care for our animals and continuing our important conservation work.
We need your help to continue our mission now and into the future. On May 5, show your support by making a gift in your name or in honor of someone you love! You can give in any of the following ways.
