Educating the public about Virginia's marine environment and inspiring conservation are the primary goals of the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. The Aquarium's Research & Conservation Division is responsible for leading the organization's efforts in these important areas. Our marine animal Stranding Response Team, for example, approaches each stranding event as an opportunity to teach the public about marine mammals and sea turtles that occur in Virginia's waters. Through stranding response, special exhibits and outreach programs, our Stranding Response Program conveys the passion and commitment needed to conserve these magnificent animals and their habitats.
