Meet & Greet
Get a "bird’s eye view" of some of the Virginia Aquarium’s most amazing animals in an up-close encounter with one of our feathered friends. A bird is chosen for this program according to its availability and may be a great horned owl, screech owl, turkey vulture, American kestrel (North America’s smallest falcon) or umbrella cockatoo. A particular species can be requested but is not guaranteed.
Program duration: up to 1 hour
Program location: lobby or pre-function area
Program fee: $150.00
Discovery Station
Amazing adaptations, super senses, beautiful body coverings, and discriminating diets are just a few of the interesting fun facts to discover through hands-on experiences with a variety of the Virginia Aquarium’s incredible critters. The live animals are chosen for this program according to their availability and will include 3-4 species from different animal groups including a mammal, reptile, amphibian, or terrestrial invertebrate (no bird). This may include a skunk, rabbit, various snakes, various lizards, various turtles, frog, salamander, tarantula, millipedes, or stick insects. A particular species can be requested but is not guaranteed.
Program duration: up to 1 hour
Program location: lobby or other designated zone

Conservation Station
Explore the Restless Planet’s Conservation Station to discover some of the most unique animals found in some of the most remote places on earth. How do critters beat the heat? Do forked tongues sting? What’s the difference between spines and quills? Find the answers to these questions and more through hands-on encounters with a variety of the Virginia Aquarium’s most incredible critters. The live animals are chosen for this program according to their availability and will include 3-4 species from different animal groups including a mammal, reptile, amphibian, or terrestrial invertebrate (no bird). This may include a hedgehog, sugar glider, various snakes, various lizards, millipedes, or stick insects. A particular species can be requested but is not guaranteed.
