 For the first time ever, Walt Disney Pictures is taking Christmas to a whole new dimension - 3D. The classic tale of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol like you've never seen it before. Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, who brought us Forrest Gump and The Polar Express, captures the fantastical essence of the classic Dickens tale in a groundbreaking 3-D motion picture event.

Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk (Gary Oldman) and his cheery nephew (Colin Firth). But when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take him on an eye-opening journey revealing truths Old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it's too late.

Through the magic of performance-capture technology, Jim Carrey tackles six roles, including Scrooge from child to young lad to miserly old man and all of the Christmas spirits in between. Zemeckis is presenting this classic holiday tale as an animated film for all ages. The Disney Digital 3-D presentation will use the same filmmaking process seen in his other animated outings, The Polar Express and the 2007 adult-themed Beowulf adaptation.
