Yes. About three weeks after joining, you will receive a member kit in the mail. In this kit are your cards, a visitor's guide, and other information useful for your membership. You do not have to wait until you get the card to visit us as we only require a photo ID, not a membership card, to check in.

A Member Kit is typically mailed out to the address you listed within two to three weeks of purchase. Each cardholder you listed on the application may visit by simply showing a photo ID as a membership card is not a requirement for entry. You do not have to wait until you get the card to visit us.

No. But you may combine memberships as long as you are listed on each membership as a cardholder. For example, you may combine two Crab memberships to receive up to eight admissions per day for an entire year. This still breaks down to membership paying for itself in less than two visits.

Yes. Any two adults can share the membership. They need not live in the same household or be related. You choose who the two cardholders are when filling out the application. If a caregiver (grandparent, nanny, neighbor) is likely to bring your child(ren) to the Aquarium frequently, we encourage you to include the caregiver's name on the membership as the secondary cardholder. We do not accept notes from parent cardholders brought in by the caregiver. In order for a caregiver to use the membership, he or she must be listed as one of the two cardholders.

We have a mix-and-match guest policy with no restrictions on who members can bring in as their guests. Guests covered by your membership need not be designated by name and need not live in the same household as you. Your guests can be children or adults, related to you or not. Guests are not considered members of the Aquarium. This includes your children.

No. They are able to purchase tickets with you at the Members desk in order to skip the regular admission line. As a reminder, your membership is mix-and-match so make sure to check in as many adults instead of children as you can under your membership to save the most money.

Yes. Members should accompany their guests while in the Aquarium and must use at least one admission upon checking in.

No. We offer an active duty discount on regular tickets to the Aquarium when purchased here, and discounted ticket vouchers at local MWRs on base, but there is no discount on membership.

Yes. Cardholders are included in the total amount of daily admissions allotted based on your level.

No. Only one cardholder is required to be present and have a photo ID to use the membership. Based on your level, you are allotted a certain amount of daily admissions. For example, a Crab membership admits two cardholders plus two guests, or one cardholder plus three guests if the other cardholder stays home that day.  Either scenario only admits four total people for the day.

No. Membership starts from the date of purchase and runs 366 days.

No. Due to additional staff and materials costs, and for the school to qualify for the group discount, memberships cannot be used in conjunction with field trips.

Yes. An upgrade is made by paying the difference between levels. Your original expiration date stays the same. You may do so by visiting the Guest Services Office or calling  (757) 385-0300.

We do not mail event invitations or postcards to members. We have member e-news that go out twice per month. Email is the major way we communicate with members. The invitations to events are in these e-mails. Our member events are listed on our website and sometimes our Facebook page. However, a quarterly print magazine, VAQ, is mailed to every member address on file with a quarterly calendar of events.
