What is a Salt Marsh?
These shallow, tidal wetlands can be found between the salty waters of the ocean and the protected fresh waters inland. They…
- …are a critical spawning and nursing grounds for waterfowl, shellfish and aquatic insects.
- …act as a buffer zone – absorbing the brunt of storm waves and floodwaters.
- …filter harmful chemical toxins from the environment.
