Mark your calendar for Commotion in the Ocean– to be held on October 11, 2014 at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center.

Recognized as Best Charity Gala by Virginia Living Magazine, Commotion in the Ocean has become "THE" Virginia Beach social event of the fall season and draws over 800 patrons ranging from young professionals to prominent business people. Commotion in the Ocean features great music, dancing, plentiful beverages and scrumptious food. An impressive silent auction with highly-coveted recreation, entertainment, and vacation packages along with a rowdy and fun live auction.

Commotion in the Ocean is always planned and sponsored by the Aquarium Connection and proceeds raised support the Virginia Aquarium Foundation. Through the Foundation, Commotion in the Ocean has funded the purchase of a boat and truck for the Stranding Response Program, purchased outreach vehicles, funded upgraded technology for research and education and underwrote new exhibits for young children and stranding response.

The Virginia Aquarium Foundation works tirelessly to raise charitable donations to care for and maintain 800,000 gallons of aquariums and more than 300 hands-on exhibits and support numerous on-site and outreach education programs.  In addition the Virginia Aquarium's Stranding Response Program, which is funded solely by grants and donations responds to stranded marine mammals throughout coastal Virginia and portions of  North Carolina.
