Coastal Desert & Mediterranean Sea

The Coastal Sahara Desert meets the Mediterranean Sea and creates conditions similar to Virginia during the Silurian period. Minerals left behind when an ancient sea evaporated from a then-scalding desert can be found in Virginia today. The Mediterranean Sea exhibits feature seahorses, cuttlefish, cobras, scorpions and hedgehogs.
