HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS Revised
• Admission Discount: In celebration of the Virginia Aquarium’s 25th anniversary year, general admission and combination tickets (admission and one IMAX ® movie), will be discounted $3 per adult or child ticket for the entire month of December.
• Movie Discount: Beginning November 25, see one of the season’s most popular holiday films, The Polar Express 3D, on the Aquarium’s 3D IMAX® Theater six-story high screen. This full length feature film will be offered at the same price of other 3D films: $9 for adults and $8 for children ages 3-11.
• SCUBA Santa: Saturdays and Sundays, November 26 – December 18 at 11 a.m.  Be sure to catch a glimpse of the jolly ole’ elf swimming with the fishes in the Chesapeake Bay Aquarium. Free with Aquarium admission.
• Sundays with Santa: Sundays from November 27 – December 18, noon – 3 p.m. join Santa and his elves in the Marsh Pavilion for festive and fun activities. Free with Aquarium admission.
• Sailing with Santa: Saturday, November 26 and Saturday, December 17, 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.  boat trips. Take a 45-minute cruise on Owls Creek with Santa and his crew! Enjoy refreshments, games and activities. What a unique photo opportunity!  Costs: $17 each (infants up to 12 months are free). Reservations required. Call (757) 385-0300.
• Countdown to 2012: Saturday, December 31, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Children and adults get ready for games, activities, and sparkling beverages (non-alcoholic) in the Aquarium’s Promenade Room! 

At the October 18 VA-1 Tourism Summit 2011, the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center was presented the 2011 Virginia Green Travel Star Most Innovative Green Project Award. The project that won competing against 25 other nominations was the Aquarium’s twice yearly e-cycling events. Accepting the award was Aquarium Director of Research and Conservation Mark Swingle.
